Santa Cruz Schools To Start Stocking Narcan
The superintendent of the Santa Cruz County Office of Education in California recently called for schools to begin stocking Narcan as a precaution for opioid overdoses. Narcan is a drug intended for the treatment of narcotic overdoses in an emergency situation.
While none of the city’s schools appear to have any reported opioid overdoses, the move is preparatory in nature, should such an occurrence taken place. Additionally, school staff are to be trained on overdose treatment with Narcan should an overdose happen in the school.
