Museum Launches Program For Families Affected By Autism
The Omaha Children's Museum recently launched a new program for individuals with autism, titled "Experiential Science for Families Affected by Autism." The Museum was awarded a grant by the Explora museum in New Mexico (where the program was initially launched), which will help to fund the program for its year-long run.
The program will provide visiting families with toolkits containing items that are designed to help children who have sensory sensitivities. Some of the items contained in the kits include noise-reducing headphones, gloves, sunglasses, and "fidget toys." Additionally, the museum holds three "autism nights" annually - an effort . . .
