New Housing Opportunities For New Yorkers With Developmental Disabilities

Andrew M. Cuomo, the governor of New York, recently announced the creation of 83 new certified housing opportunities throughout the state for people living with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The $58.9 million, multi-year effort is predominantly focused on those whose caregivers are aging and/or no longer able to support them.

It is projected that the new facilities will serve about 459 individuals. The state is contracting with 57 provider agencies to develop the 83 new homes. The provider agencies involved include the following:

Center for Disability Services
Citizens Advocates
Community Options
Hillside
