CMS Puts An End To Mandatory Cardiac, Hip Fracture Bundled Payment Models
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently announced that the federal government will no longer mandate the participation of provider organizations in bundled payment models for hip fractures and cardiac care. This decision comes in the wake of two delays for the program, which would have taken effect at the start of 2018.
Additionally, CMS announced it will be ending episode payment models and cardiac rehabilitation incentive payment models. According to statements from CMS, it believes that the changes will allow hospitals a greater degree of flexibility in how they provide care to consumers.
