Express Scripts To Sell Drug Support Unit To Avista Capital Partners

Express Scripts recently announced it has signed a deal to sell United BioSource Corp., its pharmaceutical support business, to Avista Capital Partners. Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

United Biosource (UBC) partners with life science companies to help make medicine and medical products more safe and accessible. UBC has 13 locations throughout the United States, Europe, and Canada.  With pressure to form closer ties with health insurers—as several of its rivals are—some believe that Express Scripts may need to sell to a larger payer.
