State To Close NJ Training School For Boys In Monroe

The state of New Jersey recently approved funding to close the New Jersey Training School for Boys—known as Jamesburg—as well as the Female Secure Care and Intake Facility in Bordentown, known as Hayes. The closures are part of the state’s juvenile justice system reform, recently announced by Governor Chris Christie.

As part of the reform, a $162 million bond was financed to close the two youth prisons in order to construct two new juvenile rehabilitation centers in Mercer and Camden counties. It is expected that the facilities will house anywhere from 40 to 72 juveniles. There is . . .
