Gwinnett Medical Center To Open Holding Unit For Behavioral Health Patients

Gwinnett Medical Center is preparing to open a new behavioral health holding unit that will help address a gap in resources on local levels. Gwinnett Medical officials said the goal is to help consumers connect with resources in the community that can provide assistance.

The new unit will be 5,000 square feet and will cost $2.9 million. It will give consumers a place to stay until they can be transferred to a treatment facility. It will be able to serve eight indviduals at a time and will be monitored 24 hours a day by audio and video equipment . . .
