February 23, 2010 The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) is engaged in a comprehensive system transformation—called Public School Choice—that started in August 2009. After the board released a request for proposals in November 2009 it received 180 letters of interest from a range of organizations that included teacher-run organizations at the affected schools, parent organizations, and non-profit local and national charter school management organizations.
