Rhode Island Governor Signs Executive Order On Mental Health, Addiction Disorder

Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo recently ordered agencies to increase their commitment to serving individuals with mental health and addiction disorders. The effort includes an executive order that calls for an action plan to bolster state behavioral and mental health care systems.

Additionally, the executive order instructs state agencies to review how insurance companies are meeting mental and behavioral health needs, as well as calls for a statewide campaign for removing public stigma towards mental illness and addiction. According to the governor, about 25% of Rhode Island adults have a mental health diagnosis.
