March 15, 2010 The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is preparing for the July 1, 2010, transition to a new type of behavioral health services organization, the Critical Access Behavioral Health Agency (CABHA). A CABHA can be a for-profit or not-for-profit, public or private behavioral health care company that provides a continuum of care for a selected age or disability group; the continuum includes the core services of comprehensive assessment, outpatient treatment, and medication management, and at least two enhanced services.
