Amazon & Startup Xealth Plan Pilot Where Clinical Professionals Would ‘Prescribe’ Products To Be Delivered After Consumers Leave The Hospital
Amazon and digital care solutions startup Xealth are in talks to launch a pilot project that would allow clinical professionals to recommend medical products to consumers before they are sent home from the hospital. The products would then be delivered via Amazon Prime to consumers’ homes after discharge.
The pilot would allow consumers access to discounted medical supplies, and would be available to non-Prime members through other e-commerce companies. The hospitals involved are Seattle’s Providence Health Systems and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), both of which are Xealth investors.
