Treatment Program Established For Massachusetts Inmates With Addiction Disorder
The Massachusetts Sherrifs’ Association (MSA) recently established a new statewide pilot program to provide medication assisted treatment (MAT) to inmates with addiction disorder. The program’s pilot will be implemented at five different Massachusetts prisons, pending the governor’s approval.
According to the Hampden County Sheriff spokesperson, the goal of the pilot program is to foster innovation in corrections in order to increase public safety, improve public health, and save lives. Specifically, the program seeks to combat the state’s opioid crisis.
