Bundled Payments For Care Improvement Advanced: Model Timeline, July 2018

On January 9, 2018, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced new voluntary Bundled Payments for Care Improvement Advanced (BPCI Advanced) model for 32 clinical episodes. Under the model, episodes will last 90 days and participants will be paid fee-for-service (FFS). Individual episodes are reconciled to the target price and then netted with other episodes. After adjusting for quality measures, participants either receive or owe a payment to CMS. Participation in the model is completely voluntary and not limited to specific geographic regions.
