Medtronic Set To Acquire Mazor Robots For $1.6 Billion
Medical technology company Medtronic recently agreed to purchase Israeli Mazor Robotics (Mazor) for $1.6 billion. The acquisition will not only strengthen Medtronic’s global footprint, but also bolster its presence in the realm of spine surgery technologies, as it allows Medtronic to integrate its spine implants and imaging technology with Mazor’s robotic-assisted surgery systems.
With the transaction, Medtronic will have access to Mazor’s suite of robotic guidance system technologies for spine and brain surgeries, which includes the Mazor X Robotic Guidance System and Renaissance Surgical-Guidance System. Currently, more than 200 Mazor systems are being used . . .
