August 30, 2010 The federal Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Inspector General (OIG) said that it would not impose sanctions on a hospital?s plan to provide free insurance pre-authorization services for imaging tests. The OIG said the plan had sufficient design aspects to limit the likelihood of fraud or abuse due to kickbacks.
