New Jersey P.L. 2010, c.69 Providing for Educational Stability of Children Placed in Resource Family Homes
September 28, 2010 On September 9, 2010, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie signed legislation that permits children in out-of-home care to continue to attend their current schools even if their placement changes their district of residence. This piece of legislation takes effect immediately and applies to any Department of Children and Families (DCF) Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS) resource family home placement. Previously, children entering out-of-home care were forced to withdraw from their current school if the foster home was in a different school district. Download the Report . . .
