The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Should Revise Its Charter & Cyber Charter School Funding Mechanisms
October 5, 2010 On October 5, 2010, an audit report found that Pennsylvania's charter and cyber charter schools have been charging the stateÂ’s 500 school districts different tuition rates because the funding formula is based on the sending school districtÂ’s per-pupil cost of education, not the charter schoolsÂ’ actual costs. The Auditor General called for a moratorium on the approval of new charter and cyber schools because the state's charter funding formula was flawed and should be amended by the legislature.
