Out In Front: Program Puts Residents Back In The Bike Seat
Grace Lutheran Communities – River Pines purchased a three-wheeled, motor-assisted trishaw in 2018 but had to wait for the winter to thaw before rounding up riders. Residents at the Wisconsin nursing home were perched in the front seat of a trishaw as a pilot pedaled them around the grounds. According to Jennifer Cohen, administrator of Grace Lutheran Communities, the community and residents were surprised by how enjoyable the experience was; the program allows the residents to be outside and reconnect with the outdoors.
