California Assembly Bill 1235 Youth Homelessness Prevention Shelters

On September 27, 2019, the California General Assembly published Assembly Bill (AB) Number 1235 in regard to licensing and regulation of runaway and homeless youth shelters by the State Department of Social Services. The proposed bill would rename the facilities "youth homelessness prevention centers." It would also expand required services to be provided to youth at risk of homelessness and youth who exhibit status offender behavior. The bill would also expand the definition of "short-term" to no more than 90 consecutive days . . .
