December 17, 2010 Rhode Islands Global Medicaid Waiver saved the state about $100 million on its Medicaid spending in fiscal year 2010, according to Gary D. Alexander, the states former secretary of the Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS), and current acting secretary of Pennsylvanias Department of Public Welfare. Rhode Island is the only state with this type of waiver.
