Medicare Home Health Face-to-Face Requirement Presentation
February 11, 2011 On April 1, 2011, the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) enacted a new Medicare requirement that physicians must meet face-to-face with home health and hospice patients before home telehealth services can be provided. The requirement was opposed by the National Association of Home Care and Hospice, which believes that the requirement will reduce services available to home-bound patients and lead to longer hospital stays.
