Wilkes, et al., v. Connecticut, Motion For Preliminary Injunction

The class action complaint was filed on June 8, 2020, against the the State of Connecticut. The plaintiffs are residents at Connecticut Valley Hospital and Whiting Forensic Hospital. The plaintiffs challenged the state's failure to take adequate steps to protect residents of two state psychiatric hospitals from contracting and dying from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Specifically, they seek to compel the state to comply with professional standards to ensure that the residents are adequately protected from harm, including by accelerating discharges from the hospitals and reducing the census to allow social distancing in the hospitals . . .
