Decision in Henry’s Turkey Services vs. Iowa Workforce Development

March 8, 2011 In February 2009, the Iowa Department of Human Services, acting on a public complaint about the conditions at Henry’s Turkey Service, removed the men. The Iowa Department of Workforce Development fined Henry’s Turkey Service and Hill Country Farms $1.16 million for failure to pay minimum wage, failure to provide wage statements, and making improper wage deductions for room, board, and “in-kind care.” Hill Country Farms appealed the fine, but in a final decision released March 8, 2011, an administrative law judge rejected the appeal. Hill Country Farms declined to comment on the decision . . .
