March 17, 2011 On March 21, 2011, the Board of Education for the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District (SMMUSD) approved a plan under which the district will fund mental health services for students with disabilities. The district agreed to pay up to $1.25 million to the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (DMH) to provide services to students with mental health disorders who have already been identified by the district.
