Stronger Federal Leadership Could Enhance National Response to Elder Abuse
March 22, 2011 The federal Government Accountability Office (GAO) reviewed national prevalence data on elder abuse reported by four studies released between 1988 and 2009. The most recent estimated that 14.1% of non-institutionalized older adults had experienced physical, psychological, or sexual abuse; or financial exploitation during the last 12 months.
