U.S. vs. Henry’s Turkey Service
April 6, 2011 On April 6, 2011, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) filed a discrimination lawsuit against Hill Country Farms, Inc., which under the name Henrys Turkey Service in Atalissa, Iowa, employed workers with intellectual disabilities under abusive employment conditions. The EEOC complaint alleges that the company subjected a group of 31 men with intellectual disabilities to severe abuse and discrimination for more than 20 years. The abuse attributed to the owners and staff of Henrys Turkey Service included denial of lawful wages because the workers received only $65 a month for full-time work . . .
