April 11, 2011 The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has proposed restructuring its block grant applications and creating a new discretionary Substance Abuse State Prevention Grant Program (SA-SPG) that would go to states based on a formula. SAMHSA seeks to streamline application and reporting procedures for the Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Block Grant (SAPTBG) and the Community Mental Health Services Block Grant (MHSBG) to promote consistent planning, application, assurance, and reporting dates for both block grants.
