Creating a Tailored Gatekeeper Training Program for Staff in Juvenile Justice Correctional Systems: Using Evaluation Data for Program Improvement

On April 29, 2011, Jennifer Lockman, MS, and Heather Wilson, MSW, of the Centerstone Research Institute presented their recommendations for the Shield ofCare program, the Tennessee Department of Mental Health's new specialized juvenile justice suicide prevention model. They recommended early planning strategies to solicit feedback and to incorporate them into strategies for program sustainability. Their recommendation include allowing participants to challenge assumptions about how the program works and involving them in using feedback for improvement. They also call for involving key stakeholders in reviewing program feedback and activating strategies for use, and translating the evaluation outcomes to tangible products . . .
