Measuring Teacher & School Effectiveness at Improving Student Achievement in Los Angeles Elementary Schools
May 15, 2011 In this document, RAND researcher Richard Buddin, described various methodologies for measuring the effectiveness and contribution to student achievement of individual teachers at elementary schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District. The report was commissioned by the Los Angeles Times newspaper to accompany an article on the topic. The newspaper used a value-added methodology based on third-through-fifth grade students' year-to-year scores on standardized tests to rank the teachers' effectiveness. Download the Report . . .
