Actions California Has Taken to Reduce Overcrowding in State Prisons
May 23, 2011 The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation has released a list of actions that have already been taken to reduce the overcrowding in state prisons in response to a long-running class action lawsuit (Plata v. Brown) that alleges that overcrowding was the primary reason for inadequate prison health services. CDCR released the list in its response to the May 23, 2011 ruling on Plata by the U.S. Supreme Court.
