Actions California Has Taken to Reduce Overcrowding in State Prisons

May 23, 2011 The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation has released a list of actions that have already been taken to reduce the overcrowding in state prisons in response to a long-running class action lawsuit (Plata v. Brown) that alleges that overcrowding was the primary reason  for inadequate prison health services.
