Germany Approves Digital Mental Health Apps For Prescription
Germany has started approving digital mental health apps for prescription. On October 5, 2020, Germany’s Digital Healthcare Act (DVG) officially granted physicians in Germany permission to prescribe digital apps to their consumers for the first time. Under the legislation, health care professionals can prescribe digital health apps to health care consumers, which can be reimbursed by the country’s statutory health insurance. App providers are required to prove to the federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) that their apps can improve consumer care.
