Findings of the Review of Los Angeles Unified School District Charter Applications & Enrollment Forms
June 13, 2011 On June 13, 2011, the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), Office of the Independent Monitor released findings of its review of LAUSD charter schools and enrollment applications. The review found that student applications used by about half of the 183 charter schools serving students in the LAUSD had potentially inappropriate questions about students’ special education needs. However, the Independent Monitor stopped short of saying that the charter schools were using the applications to avoid enrolling students with disabilities.
