Guidelines for Preventing Workplace Violence for Health Care and Social Service Workers
September 12, 2011 On September 8, 2011, the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) released a compliance directive instructing its incident investigators that the health care and social service industry was considered high risk for workplace violence. The injury rate due to workplace violence in this industry exceeds the injury rate for late night convenience store workers. OSHA released guidelines to help health care and social service provider organizations reduce the risk that their employees would be injured by client violence.
