The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved Indiana's monitoring protocols for coverage of inpatient services provided in facilities with more than 16 beds to adult beneficiaries with serious mental illness or addiction disorder. Such facilities are considered Institutions of Mental Disease (IMDs), and normally IMD services are not eligible for federal Medicaid matching funds.
