On February 18, 2022, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) published this Morbitidy and Mortality Weekly Report about pediatric emergency department visits before and during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) "pandemic" in the U.S. between January 2019 and January 2022. The report determined that although overall pediatric emergency rooms (ER) visits declined during COVOD-19, the number of visits increased significantly for firearm injuries, self-harm, and drug poisoning compared to pre-pandemic levels, including doubling for eating disorder visits among adolescents . . .
