Physician Compensation: Shifting Incentives
October 24, 2011 The Health Leaders Media Intelligence Unit conducted an online survey about physician compensation strategies in July 2011 with executives at hospital and health care systems who are members of the HealthLeaders Media Council and audience. A total of 316 surveys were completed; 46% were from hospital executives; 28% were from health system executives; and 26% were from physician organizations. Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement changes were cited as the primary influence on physician compensation structures by 76% the organizations surveyed; 59% also cited health care reform as a major influence.
