The final rule was released by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on September 27, 2021. It went into effect on November 26, 2021. It describes additional policies for health insurance issuers and the Health Insurance Marketplaces for plan years 2022 and beyond. In the rule, CMS adopted a series of additional policies to protect and expand access to health insurance coverage through the exchanges. These policies include extending the annual open enrollment period, expanding the role of navigators, and reversing policies related to section 1332 waivers and direct enrollment pathways . . .
