California Medicaid Launches Statewide Effort To Help Beneficiaries Maintain Health Coverage When Eligibility Redeterminations Resume
The California Department of State Health Care Services (DHCS) launched a statewide effort to help Medi-Cal (California’s Medicaid program) beneficiaries keep their Medi-Cal coverage or be enrolled in other coverage after the public health emergency (PHE) ends. During the federal PHE, states paused eligibility redeterminations for Medicaid beneficiaries. When the PHE ends, states will resume normal eligibility operations and the annual eligibility review. The federal PHE was extended again on April 14, 2022, and will continue through July 15, 2022.
