CMS To Cut Nursing Home Payments By 4.6%
For 2023, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) plans to cut Medicare nursing home payments by 4.6% to adjust for unintentional overpayments in the transition to the Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM). Net Medicare Part A payments to skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) will decline by $320 million. This will be in addition to SNF-value-based purchasing reductions estimated at $186 million to certain SNFs.
