Testimony to Medicare Contractor NHIC Corporation In Support of Coverage For Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation As Depression
November 4, 2011 Starting March 17, 2012, Medicare beneficiaries in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont will be able to receive repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) to treat major depression if they are not able to tolerate or have not responded to antidepressant medications. The area is served by NHIC Corporation as the Medicare contractor for Medicare Part B services. NHIC Corporation released a future local coverage determination for rTMS on January 26, 2012.
