November 15, 2011 The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene's (DHMH) report highlights the utilization, cost data, and projections of DHMH's 2010 policy changes in substance abuse treatment. The report found that between 2009 and 2010, Maryland Medicaids outpatient substance abuse treatment expenditures increased by 74%, from $24.2 million to $42.2 million and the number of people receiving Medicaid substance abuse services increased from 17,005 in 2009 to 30,809 in 2010.
