In December 2015, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released the Medicare Drug Spending dashboard with the aim of making the cost of prescription drugs more transparent. The dashboard is a curated list consisting of 40 drugs from the Medicare Part B program and 40 drugs from the Medicare part D program. The drugs, which most have over 1,000 Medicare users where selected based on the following criteria: highest total spending program prescription drug spending; highest annual per user cost (must be more than $10,000 per user) based on claims data analysis; and highest unit costs . . .
