Circle Connections: Mergers & Acquisitions Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island and the Care New England hospital group have taken a significant step toward their planned merger, by signing a formal affiliation agreement. The hospitals plan to apply for state and federal approval this January. Memorial, in Pawtucket, has been struggling financially and, like most hospitals in Rhode Island, is looking to join with a larger group to better respond to a changing health care environment.
