North Carolina’s Cumberland County Commissioners Approve Mental Health Merger Talks With Durham-Based Organization
Circle Connections: Mergers & Acquisitions Cumberland County will explore a full merger with a multi-county mental health authority. The County Board of Commissioners voted Monday night to open negotiations, despite opposition from the county Mental Health Board, which would be dissolved if a merger takes place. The county currently contracts with Durham-based Alliance Behavioral Health to authorize care in the county. State reforms mean Cumberland is no longer large enough to be a lone authority.
