Cerner & Epic Dominate Health Records Field

KLAS Enterprises, an independent vendor research firm serving health care technology clients, has released a report on the market share of six electronic health records companies, including Cerner, that serve large hospitals. KLAS said the two big players, North Kansas City-based Cerner and Epic, hold 75 percent of large-hospital contracts, based on 2013 data. Room for growth remains in the hospital digital records field. The report said 443 hospitals that each have more than 200 beds do not yet use a currently marketed electronic health records system. This was reported by the Kansas City Star on August 27 . . .
