San Francisco’s Dignity Health Acquires U.S. HealthWorks
Mergers & Acquisitions After being delayed in July, Dignity Health has acquired Valencia-based U.S. HealthWorks. The purchase is part of Dignity's aggressive plan to be become a national player in the near future. Now that the deal is done, U.S. HealthWorks will be a wholly owned for-profit unit of Dignity, which is led by longtime CEO Lloyd Dean. Dignity, formerly known as Catholic Healthcare West, operates 40 hospitals in California, Arizona and Nevada, including Saint Francis Memorial Hospital and St. Mary's Medical Center in San Francisco and Redwood City's Sequoia Hospital.
