Alaska Awarded $160 Million In Federal Funding To Add Cutting-Edge Technology To Its Rural Health Transformation Program

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced a $160 million investment awarded to Alaska through the Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) to support 142 projects across the state. The projects focus on technology, coordinated care, health data infrastructure, workforce development, and access to services in rural, remote, and frontier communities.

Projects supported by this new investment in Alaska’s RHTP Fund include:

Modernizing technology: $6.5 million to introduce robotic-assisted minimally invasive surgery in Southern Southeast Alaska, expand local specialty capacity, reduce out-of-area referrals, and address access barriers
