Alaska Expands Eligibility For Early Interventions For Children With Developmental Delays

The Alaska State Legislature passed legislation expanding access to the state’s Infant Learning Program (ILP) for children with developmental delays. The Senate Health and Social Services Committee sponsored the bill, which also received support from the Alaska Legislature’s Children’s Caucus.

Previously, Alaska required children to demonstrate a 50% developmental delay to qualify for ILP services. Under that standard, a two-year-old child would need to function at the level of a one-year-old to qualify. The threshold was more restrictive than those used in many other states.
