All 50 States, D.C. & Puerto Rico Join ACF’s ‘A Home for Every Child’ Initiative
The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, announced that all 50 states, along with Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico, have joined "A Home for Every Child," an initiative aimed at increasing the number of licensed foster homes relative to the number of children in foster care. Nationally, there are 57 licensed foster homes for every 100 children in care. The initiative seeks to close this gap to one foster home for each child in care by strengthening families, prioritizing prevention, and recruiting and retaining qualified foster families.
