Allegheny Health Network Planning First Microhospital
The first of four upcoming neighborhood hospitals, a “microhospital,” was recently announced by Allegheny Health Network (AHN) and Highmark Health. Microhospitals are independently licensed facilities with acuity comparable to a community hospital, but at a smaller size.
The microhospital, named AHN Hempfield-Neighborhood Hospital, will provide an emergency department, inpatient beds, diagnostic care, and other services. AHN plans to partner with Emerus for their microhospital experience and specialty. The new microhospital serves as part of AHN’s recently announced $1 billion expansion plan.
